Patna: Three days after suffering a significant setback in the Bihar Assembly elections, Tejashwi Yadav on Monday convened a crucial review meeting at his government residence on Polo Road. Both victorious and defeated MLAs were asked to attend, along with senior figures including former state president Jagdanand Singh and Baahubali leader Surajbhan Singh.
MLA Alok Mehta, speaking outside the meeting venue, claimed that “there was clear disturbance in the election, which is why such a result came.”
But the most serious allegation came from RJD MLA Bogo Singh, who retained the Matihani seat. He alleged that NDA leaders “bought Jeevika Didis’ votes” by transferring Rs. 10,000 each to crores of women ahead of voting.
“The NDA’s ground had slipped, so they bought votes of Jeevika Didis. The Election Commission should take responsibility for the mistake and answer for what happened,” he said.
Singh added that the pre-poll cash transfer was accompanied by claims that Rs. 2 lakh more would be provided if the NDA returned to power. “The election was stolen, it was rigged,” he insisted.
Former MLA Akhtarul Islam Sahin also echoed the concerns, saying the transfers had created an uneven electoral playing field.
Inside the Review Meeting
Party sources said the meeting was primarily aimed at gathering firsthand feedback from candidates who lost, with Tejashwi seeking to understand “what went wrong at the grassroots.”
