Patna: Fresh turmoil has erupted within Lalu Prasad’s family after photographs of Sanjay Yadav and Rameez on lavish foreign holidays went viral, prompting renewed scrutiny of their alleged influence on the party’s internal affairs. The images, showing them in luxury hotels, aboard private yachts and in upscale pubs overseas, have triggered widespread debate on social media about the source of their apparent wealth.

The row follows a bruising defeat for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the Bihar assembly elections, after which tensions inside the family appear to have sharpened. On Sunday, Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad, announced she was leaving both the party and the family. In a strongly worded statement, she accused Sanjay Yadav and Rameez of creating discord, meddling in political decisions and misleading her brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. She also alleged she had been intimidated and even threatened with slippers during internal disputes.
Acharya claimed there were “people within the party” who were actively attempting to undermine the family and sabotage its political standing. Her accusations have added momentum to the discussion around the viral images, which depict Sanjay and Rameez on trips said to cost “millions and crores”, according to online commentators.

Sources close to the party allege that they frequently travel by private jet, holiday on exclusive beaches and stay in seven-star hotels. Some reports suggest they have, at times, hired private yachts and travelled abroad with personal staff. The newly surfaced photos appear to support these claims, prompting mounting speculation over funding and accountability.
The RJD has not issued a formal response to Acharya’s resignation or the circulation of the images. However, the controversy has deepened concerns about internal rifts at a moment when the party is already reeling from electoral setbacks.
