Patna: The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (Budco) has put in place a tighter accountability and monitoring framework for four of Patna’s major drainage projects, introducing weekly reviews, assigned nodal officers, and a colour-coded reporting system to evaluate real-time progress.
According to an official statement issued on Monday, Managing Director Animesh Kumar Parashar has directed that a weekly review meeting be held every Wednesday to assess the status of the Anandpuri, Kurji, Saidpur and Bakarganj drainage schemes.
Budco said the new framework is intended to ensure “continuous oversight, faster problem-solving and clear accountability of engineers and project directors.”
Nodal officers to track each project
Under the revised mechanism, nodal officers posted at the Budco headquarters will be responsible for day-to-day supervision of the four drainage lines:
-
Anandpuri Nala
-
Kurji Nala
-
Saidpur Nala
-
Bakarganj Nala
These officers will compile updated progress reports after coordinating with the respective project directors and will present a consolidated briefing to the MD during the weekly meeting.
Colour-coded assessment to increase transparency
In what officials described as a move to ensure “clarity at a glance”, Budco has introduced a colour-coded system to reflect the actual condition of each project:
-
Green – Work progressing well
-
Yellow – Progress is satisfactory but requires attention
-
Red – Slow progress
-
Blue – Issues related to funds or allocation
-
Black – Major deviations detected in the project
This system, the MD said, will allow engineers and decision-makers to “identify bottlenecks instantly and act without delay”.
Failure to improve may invite action
Budco has also warned that if project directors fail to show expected improvement even after receiving instructions and support, they may face administrative action.
Officials added that the weekly meetings will focus not only on reviewing progress but also on providing immediate solutions to operational hurdles, ensuring that drainage construction stays on schedule ahead of next year’s monsoon.
