Patna: Senior Congress leaders from Bihar held a fresh round of talks with Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on Saturday, as the party continues to assess its heavy defeat in the recent state assembly elections.
Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram, legislature party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan and state in-charge Krishna Allawaru met the national leadership for a second time in two days, after earlier outlining the factors they believe contributed to the loss.
The meeting also examined preparations for an upcoming rally in Delhi and the possibility of organisational restructuring within the state unit.
According to party sources, the delegation conveyed growing pressure from within the Bihar Congress to break away from the alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). However, there has been no indication so far of the leadership’s stance on the issue. Party officials could not be reached for comment despite attempts to contact them by phone.
The review meeting is part of a broader reassessment of the Congress’s strategy in Bihar following its poor electoral performance.
