Patna: Union minister Lalan Singh has launched a sharp attack on Bihar’s leader of the opposition, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, accusing him and the Grand Alliance of misleading the public and lacking credibility. Speaking to reporters in Patna, Singh mocked Yadav’s political standing, saying: “You set out to play leader, and look where you have ended up. You have barely managed to become leader of the opposition.”
Singh claimed Yadav has lost political visibility and public influence, arguing that he is “no longer as active as before”. The remarks come amid ongoing political friction in Bihar between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition bloc.
Criticism over Rs 10,000 scheme dispute
Responding to questions over the opposition’s criticism of the government’s Rs 10,000 financial support scheme for women, Singh accused rival parties of fuelling misinformation. “The opposition is only engaged in spreading confusion,” he said, adding sarcastically: “We have seen the results of spreading confusion, and we all know where we have ended up.”
‘Jungle Raj memories still haunt people’
The minister also revived the longstanding NDA attack on the Grand Alliance’s previous tenure. “People still shudder at the memory of that rule,” he said. “The memories of Jungle Raj are still fresh in people’s minds.”
One crore jobs ‘entirely possible’
Defending the Nitish Kumar government’s promise to create one crore jobs, Singh insisted the commitment was realistic and achievable. “This is the USP of our chief minister, Nitish Kumar. He does what he says. One crore youth will get employment in five years.”
Taking aim at the Congress, Singh said the party’s political influence had diminished significantly. “The position of Congress has weakened across the country. No one is even bothering about them now,” he added.
