Patna: The Bihar government is set to open recruitment for 2,856 vacancies in the Forest Department, following directions issued during a review meeting chaired by the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister, Pramod Kumar, on Thursday.
The minister instructed officials to expedite the process of filling vacant posts across the department. The recruitment will include positions such as Assistant Forest Conservator (31), Forest Field Officer (40), Forester (188), Forest Guard (1,816), Stenographer (55), Amin (32), Lower Division Clerk (396), Office Attendant (17) and Driver (281).
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on expanding and maintaining fruit-bearing and biodiversity-enhancing plantations, including traditional species such as jamun, jackfruit, brahma, peepal, banyan and neem — trees that the minister said also hold cultural and medicinal value. Public participation will be encouraged in the initiative.
Kumar also directed officials to prioritise the upkeep and development of state-managed parks.
Providing an update on ongoing projects, Prabhat Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, briefed the meeting on forest plantation efforts and activities carried out under eco-tourism initiatives. Senior officials including Arvind Singh, Surendra Singh and S. Chandrashekhar were also in attendance.
