Patna: Bihar’s Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra held a comprehensive review meeting of the department’s schemes and programmes at the Tourism Directorate auditorium in the Old Secretariat on Saturday. Tourism Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh presented details of the department’s plans and activities.
The Minister emphasized that Bihar has established itself on the tourism map due to its rich cultural traditions, heritage, and sacred sites of all religions. He stated that the department is working tirelessly to ensure that tourists face no difficulties and that their numbers continue to grow. He highlighted the immense potential of the tourism industry in the state, noting that the government prioritizes developing tourism sites and managing basic amenities for visitors to make tourism employment-oriented. The department is continuously striving to provide better facilities, support, and joyful travel experiences for tourists visiting Bihar.
The Secretary informed the Minister about upcoming projects, including the construction of a corridor and dharmashala in Gaya, a grand Mata Janki temple in Punauradham, a temple complex in Devkuli Dham, and the tender process for the construction of Buddhist replicas in Kesaria. Additionally, the department is working on the renovation of hotels across the state, with plans to build new hotels adjacent to existing ones if necessary. More facilities are to be developed near ancient temples for devotees, and sites associated with Bihar’s prominent figures are being integrated into tourism circuits.
The review meeting was attended by Tourism Director Vinay Kumar Rai, Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Nandkishore, General Manager Abhijeet Kumar, along with other officials and employees of the department.
