Patna: Patna’s Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park is preparing for a surge in visitors on New Year’s Day, with zoo authorities planning to open 10 additional ticket counters to manage large crowds. On regular days, only four counters operate.
Zoo director Hemant Patil said advance ticket booking would open after 25 December to help reduce waiting times for visitors.
Ticket prices tripled for New Year’s Day
Entry fees at the zoo will rise sharply for 1 January. Adult tickets will increase from Rs 50 to Rs 150, while the ticket price for children aged 5 to 12 will rise from Rs 40 to Rs 60 — a threefold increase compared with normal days.
Other parks across the city will also revise their prices for the day:
- Eco Park: Adult tickets will increase from Rs 20 to Rs 50, and children’s tickets from Rs 10 to Rs 25.
- Veer Kunwar Singh Park: Adults will pay Rs 25 and children Rs 10.
- Naveen Sinha Park: Adults will pay Rs 25 (up from Rs 10), and children Rs 10 (up from Rs 5).
Officials said the increased rates will apply only on 1 January, and normal pricing will resume from the following day.
The measures, they added, are aimed at managing crowd flow and maintaining facilities during one of the busiest days of the year for Patna’s public parks.
