Patna/Katihar: Katihar district has a new district magistrate, with Ashutosh Dwivedi assuming charge on Friday and immediately setting out a clear set of priorities for the next three months. Dwivedi, the 50th DM of the district, said his primary focus would be ensuring that government welfare schemes reach “the last person in the queue”.
Dwivedi held his first meeting with officials across departments soon after taking charge at the collectorate. According to district officials, he reviewed ongoing work, sought updates from departmental heads, and emphasised accountability in implementation.
He directed nodal officers at the block level to intensify field visits and expedite processes related to parimarjan (reform of land records) and mutation. Speeding up these procedures, he said, was essential to clearing bottlenecks that affect both governance and service delivery.
The new DM also stressed the need to accelerate development projects that have slowed down due to delays in execution. Officials said Dwivedi asked departments to draw up detailed timelines to ensure measurable progress over the next quarter.
Further reviews of key schemes and infrastructural projects are expected in the coming weeks, with the administration preparing a consolidated status report.
