Patna: The Bihar government has transferred 34 IAS officers in a significant administrative reshuffle, with two officers receiving additional charge and five reassigned within the past 48 hours. The General Administration Department issued the notification outlining the changes.
Among the most notable shifts is the transfer of IAS officer Suharsh Bhagat, son-in-law of former Union minister and Nitish Kumar aide RCP Singh. Bhagat has been moved from the State Health Society to the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, where he will oversee land survey operations.
Shirsat Kapil Ashok, Managing Director of the Bihar State Road Development Corporation, will continue to hold additional charge as Managing Director of the Bihar State Fruit and Vegetable Development Corporation. However, he has been relieved of his additional role as Special Secretary in the Road Construction Department.
New appointments and additional responsibilities
Dharmendra Kumar, a 2013-batch IAS officer who had been awaiting posting in the General Administration Department, has been appointed Director of Social Security.
Mayank Varwade, Project Director of the Bihar Education Project Council and a 2001-batch IAS officer, has been named Secretary of the Planning and Development Department. He will also hold additional charge as Investigation Commissioner in the General Administration Department, Patna.

Upendra Prasad, a 2013-batch IAS officer and Additional Secretary in the General Administration Department, has been transferred to the Labour Resources and Migrant Worker Welfare Department as Additional Secretary.
Naveen Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary in the Social Welfare Department, has been appointed Director of Panchayati Raj until further notice.
