Patna: The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has completed the selection trials for the Bihar Rural League in Patna, drawing a huge response from young cricketers. The trials, which began on December 14, continued for four days and saw around 1,900 players from across the district participate. For many, the trials offered a rare chance to be noticed and to move closer to playing organised league cricket.
On the final day, 226 players attended trials at two venues – Lakshya Cricket Academy in Kankarbagh and Shakha Maidan in Rajendra Nagar. These sessions were held especially for players who had not registered earlier. Batsmen, bowlers and wicketkeepers were all tested, with selectors closely watching their skills and match awareness.
Rupak Kumar, media in-charge and coordinator of the selection process, said that selectors carefully observed every player over the four days. Batting, bowling and wicketkeeping skills were assessed to ensure fair selection. Officials said the overall standard of play was encouraging and showed the depth of cricket talent in the district.
Bihar Rural Cricket League chairman Sarfaraz Hussain said matches in Patna will begin soon and are expected to attract public attention. BCA secretary Ziaul Arfeen added that similar trials are being completed in other districts of Bihar. League coordinator Gyaneshwar Gautam said that based on the Patna trials, 24 teams will be formed, and league matches across the state will start shortly.
