Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad has arrived in Delhi and is staying at the residence of his daughter, Misa Bharti, where he is undergoing treatment for a serious eye condition. His visit comes as his son, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, is abroad for personal reasons.
Sources report that Lalu’s eyesight deteriorated suddenly, prompting an initial examination at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna. The RJD leader is reportedly experiencing complications in the same eye that had previously undergone cataract surgery. After five days of blurred vision, his condition worsened two days ago, leading doctors at IGIMS to advise a consultation at the hospital where his earlier procedure had been performed. The family subsequently decided to bring him to Delhi.
On arrival, Lalu was attended to by specialist doctors at a leading private hospital. He has been prescribed medication and is scheduled for a follow-up in two days, with further checkups to be determined by his doctors.
Amid the medical concerns, attention has also turned to reported tensions within the Yadav family. Strains reportedly emerged following the Bihar assembly elections, particularly between his daughters and Tejashwi, and intensified after a dispute concerning a kidney transplant came to light. Lalu Prasad’s stay in Delhi is understood to be an opportunity both for treatment and for attempting to mediate family differences.
Tejashwi, unable to travel to Delhi due to his foreign trip, has been in regular contact with his father. Rohini Acharya has also communicated with Lalu to offer her support. Meanwhile, Rabri Devi remains in Patna, and Tej Pratap Yadav is expected to join the family in Delhi shortly.
