Patna/Bettiah: Authorities in Bihar’s West Champaran district have instructed officials to ensure that all beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme (PM Awas Yojana) complete their electronic know-your-customer (e-KYC) verification within a week, warning that delays will not be tolerated.
The directive was issued during a review meeting at the Nautan block office on Thursday, chaired by the block development officer (BDO), Shailendra Kumar Singh. Housing assistants were told to prioritise e-KYC verification and ensure the timely release of the second instalment of funds to eligible beneficiaries.
Singh said the scheme was aimed at providing permanent housing to economically weaker families and stressed that transparency and time-bound implementation were essential. He added that beneficiaries who had withdrawn funds but failed to begin construction would face action under existing rules.
Housing assistants were instructed to conduct regular field visits to assess construction progress, guide beneficiaries and resolve pending cases without delay. Officials were also asked to update beneficiary data promptly on the scheme’s online portal.
The meeting was attended by housing assistants and block-level staff, including Naveen Kumar, Kundan Kumar, Prabhakar Kumar, Prakash Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Ratnesh Kumar and Gajendra Kumar.
