Nalanda: Rajgir Zoo Safari has become a centre of attraction this winter as a large number of migratory birds have arrived from different parts of the world. With the change in season, the safari complex has come alive with bird calls and movement, drawing tourists in large numbers. Visitors are enjoying the calm atmosphere, natural beauty and the rare opportunity to see foreign birds in a safe and open environment.
This year, several rare bird species have been spotted inside the safari complex. Birds such as the Northern Shoveler, Cotton Pygmy Goose, Common Coot, Common Moorhen, Citrine Wagtail, Green Sandpiper, Grey Wagtail, White-browed Wagtail, White Wagtail and Forest Wagtail are being seen near water bodies and green areas. Tourists are excited to watch these birds feeding in the ponds, resting on tree branches and flying freely across the sky.
Officials say the arrival of migratory birds is a result of the clean and peaceful surroundings of Rajgir Zoo Safari. The presence of fresh water, dense greenery and a disturbance-free environment makes the area a safe shelter for birds during the winter season. Every year, as temperatures drop, these birds travel long distances and choose Rajgir as a temporary home.
Rajgir Zoo Safari director Ram Sundar M said that welcoming migratory birds is a proud moment for Bihar. He added that the increasing number of birds shows the success of conservation efforts in the area. According to him, the growing interest of tourists and the rich bird life have helped Rajgir Zoo Safari strengthen its identity as an important eco-tourism destination in the state.
