Patna: Seventeen new Kendriya Vidyalayas (central government schools) are set to open in Bihar in the coming year, the state’s Education Department has confirmed. Approval for the schools has already been granted, and authorities have begun the process of securing land at the government level.
According to an Education Department official, the new schools will initially operate from temporary facilities until permanent buildings are constructed, with suitable structures already identified for this purpose.
The districts slated to receive the new Kendriya Vidyalayas include Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Purnea, Arwal, Madhubani, Kaimur, Madhepura, Sheikhpura, Bhojpur, Bhagalpur, Nalanda, Munger, and Darbhanga. District Magistrates in these areas have been instructed to make land available for both temporary and permanent school facilities.
The department’s directives also highlighted the need to address any deficiencies in essential amenities such as electricity, drinking water, and access roads at the temporary sites. District officials have been asked to identify plots for permanent campuses and submit proposals to the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, while also keeping the Education Department informed.
With the addition of these 17 schools, all 38 districts of Bihar will host a Kendriya Vidyalaya. Previously, 53 schools operated across 33 districts; the total number is now set to rise to 70.
