Patna: Patna traffic police have announced extensive restrictions and route diversions around Gandhi Maidan on Thursday, anticipating large crowds gathering in the area for Christmas celebrations.
Under a special traffic plan, all commercial vehicles, including auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws, will be completely barred from roads surrounding Gandhi Maidan to ensure smooth traffic flow and crowd management. Alternative routes have been earmarked for vehicles approaching from outlying areas.
Autos and e-rickshaws travelling from Danapur towards Rajapur Bridge will be diverted back at the Police Line T-junction. Similarly, vehicles coming from Ashok Rajpath via Gaighat towards Gandhi Maidan will be turned back at the western end of the double-decker flyover near Kargil Chowk.
No auto or e-rickshaw will be permitted to move from Bhattacharya Chowk towards Gandhi Maidan on Exhibition Road. Additional restrictions and diversions will apply on several inner-city routes.
From SP Verma Road, autos and e-rickshaws will be allowed only up to the Swaminandan T-junction, after which they will be diverted back via Bata Chowk. The operation of these vehicles will be entirely prohibited on Buddhamarg and on the stretch from Chajjubagh to TN Banerjee Path. They will also not be allowed on Bank Road from Police Line Gate No 01.
On Baripath, autos and e-rickshaws will be permitted to operate only between Machhua Toli and Thakurwadi Chowk, after which they must turn back. Traffic police have clarified that no such vehicle will be allowed to proceed towards Gandhi Maidan or Bakarganj under any circumstances.
The traffic department has urged commuters and drivers to cooperate with the administration by adhering to the temporary restrictions and designated routes, stressing that the measures are aimed at maintaining security and easing congestion during the festive period.
