Rajgir: Police in the historic tourist town of Rajgir, Nalanda district, have rescued 15 girls and arrested three men in connection with a major sex racket operating out of a local hotel.
The raid took place late on Saturday evening at the Residency hotel in Dhurwa Mod, following a tip-off, officials said. Preliminary investigations indicate that the girls, all reportedly from West Bengal, were lured under the pretext of dance and music performances and coerced into prostitution for minimal sums of money.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Singh confirmed the arrests of Gaurav Kumar of Repura village in Nawada district, Suman Kumar from Sonsa village in Hisua, and Manoranjan Kumar of Akbarpur village in Islampur. An FIR has been registered against all three men, and legal proceedings are underway.
The operation involved officers including Circle Inspector Lalmuni Dubey, Station House Officer Raman Kumar, Neha Kumari, and Ramnath Chauhan. Singh said the raid aimed not only to apprehend the perpetrators but also to prevent similar exploitation in the future.
Authorities emphasised the importance of increased vigilance and social awareness to protect young people and children from such criminal networks. The local administration has assured strict action and reiterated its commitment to making Rajgir, a prominent tourist destination, safe for visitors.
Police have appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and illegal sex rackets in the state.
