Muzaffarpur: A serious accident took place on Saturday on National Highway-28 near Nariyar village in Motipur, located between Muzaffarpur and Motihari in Bihar. An LPG gas tanker hit the road divider and overturned, creating panic among people travelling on the busy highway. As LPG is highly flammable, the police and administration acted quickly and sealed the entire area within a two-kilometre radius. All vehicles were stopped immediately to prevent any risk to life and property.
After the accident, police teams reached the spot and blocked both sides of the highway. Pedestrians and small vehicles were diverted through nearby village roads for safety. Local residents also helped the administration by guiding vehicles through alternative routes. Due to this timely cooperation, there was no major traffic jam, even though the highway remained closed for several hours. The area remained under strict watch until officials were sure there was no danger.
According to officials, dense fog was the main reason behind the accident. The tanker was travelling from Muzaffarpur to Motihari when poor visibility caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. As visibility was extremely low, the tanker struck the divider and overturned. Thankfully, no one was injured in the accident, and there was no confirmed gas leakage, which could have caused a major tragedy.
Later, with the help of a crane, the overturned tanker was carefully lifted and removed from the road. After a detailed safety check, the police allowed traffic to resume on the highway. The quick response of the administration and the support of local people helped avoid a serious disaster. Normal movement on NH-28 was restored, bringing relief to commuters and nearby residents.
