Patna: All land acquisition hurdles for the Tajpur–Bakhtiyarpur greenfield bridge project have been resolved, clearing the way for construction to proceed as scheduled, Bihar’s chief secretary has said.
At a review meeting in Patna on Monday, Pratyaya Amrit said a weekly work plan had been drawn up for the bridge project and that implementation was progressing in line with the schedule. The meeting also reviewed the status of the North Koel Reservoir and Mandai Weir projects, both of which have been identified as priority initiatives by the state government.
Amrit instructed officials to ensure that all projects were completed within their stipulated timelines, noting that the chief minister could inspect the works in the near future.
During discussions on the North Koel Reservoir project, the chief secretary said he would conduct a field visit next week to personally assess progress on the ground.
Reviewing the Mandai Weir project, Amrit stressed the need for timely compensation payments to landowners, warning that delays in disbursement had a direct impact on construction work. He directed departments to ensure that payments continued without interruption.
The meeting was attended by the principal secretary of the water resources department, Santosh Kumar Mall; the principal secretary of the planning and development department, Mayank Varwade; the secretary of the road construction department, Pankaj Pal; the managing director of the Bihar State Road Development Corporation, Shirshat Kapil Ashok; and the secretary (expenditure) of the finance department, Rachna Patil. Representatives of construction agencies, contractors and senior officials from various departments were also present.
