Patna: The Bihar government will strengthen oversight of electricity supply and related services, with regular monitoring to be conducted at the chief minister’s office as part of its “Ease of Living” initiative.
Under the plan, the quality of power supply and the timeliness of electricity-related services will be tracked to ensure greater accountability among officials. The Bihar State Electricity Regulatory Commission has already set deadlines for key services, including the provision of new electricity connections, resolution of billing complaints, installation of new poles and other consumer requests.
Applications for these services are submitted online and will now be reviewed centrally to check whether they are delivered within the stipulated time. Where delays occur, a monitoring team will examine the reasons and recommend action if negligence is found.
Ensuring a reliable power supply is a central component of the initiative. Officials will monitor whether electricity is being supplied without interruption, assess voltage stability and track how quickly complaints are addressed.
Power company officials said data related to supply quality, complaints and service delivery is available online and will be shared with the monitoring team through a dedicated dashboard. The assessment will also include a review of staffing levels at power substations to ensure adequate personnel are in place.
