Patna: The Bihar government has reviewed the progress of major road and bridge projects announced during the Chief Minister’s “Pragati Yatra”, with senior officials instructed to complete all schemes on time and to strict quality standards.

At a meeting held in Patna on Monday, the Secretary of the Road Construction Department, Pankaj Kumar Pal, conducted a detailed assessment of ongoing projects and also reviewed preparations for the chief minister’s upcoming “Samriddhi Yatra”. Senior officers, engineers and departmental officials were present.

Pal examined the status of works in terms of progress, quality, deadlines and implementation challenges. He directed officials to give top priority to all projects announced during the Pragati Yatra and ensure their timely and high-quality completion. “Any laxity or delay will not be tolerated,” he said, stressing the need for close coordination to remove obstacles at the earliest.

Among the key projects reviewed were the westward extension of the JP Ganga Path up to the Veer Kunwar Singh bridge, widening of the AIIMS Golambar–Janipur–Painapur–Neva road, improved connectivity from Didarganj to the Mokama Rajendra Setu, and the four-laning of the Danapur Cantonment–Maner–Bihta corridor.

Other major schemes include the construction of a road overbridge at Subhash Chowk in Forbesganj, the Parora bypass linking NH-107 and NH-60 in Purnia, improved connectivity to the Janeshwar Mishra bridge in Buxar, a ring road in Aurangabad’s Dev Nagar area, and a greenfield road connecting Pachna in Lakhisarai to Sarmera in Nalanda district.

Plans also cover four-laning of the Shobhana bypass in Darbhanga, construction of a ring road in Madhubani, along with a road from Kanakpur to Jagatpur linked to the Pandaul bypass, the Mirganj market bypass in Gopalganj, and the construction of the Mohania bypass.

The road construction department, the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL), and the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited (BRPNNL) are jointly implementing 131 projects announced during the Pragati Yatra. Officials said work on the road from the municipal corporation office in Munger to Shastri Chowk via Jubilee Well and Kalitazia JP Path Chowk has already been completed.

Pal sought detailed reports on land acquisition issues, identifying them as a major bottleneck in several projects. He instructed officials to resolve such problems quickly to prevent disruption to construction schedules.

Looking ahead to the Samriddhi Yatra, Pal said preparations must be completed for all proposed roads, bridges and infrastructure works to ensure smooth traffic movement and maximum public convenience. He directed engineers and officers to immediately prepare action plans for foundation-laying and inauguration ceremonies and to ensure regular monitoring of progress.

Officials were also told to conduct frequent field visits and strengthen coordination with district administrations. The emphasis, Pal said, was on accountability, speed and quality to ensure that the government’s infrastructure promises translate into visible improvements on the ground.
