Champaran: The Amrit Bharat Express running between Sitamarhi and New Delhi will now halt at Ghorasahan railway station in Bihar’s East Champaran district, offering a significant boost to regional connectivity. The new stoppage comes into effect from today, according to railway officials, and is expected to benefit passengers from neighbouring districts as well.
The decision was taken by the Railway Headquarters after repeated demands from local passengers, who had been seeking better long-distance rail access for the area. A formal proposal was sent to the authorities and subsequently approved, allowing the train to stop at Ghorasahan on both the up and down routes.
As per the revised schedule, train number 14047, the Delhi–Sitamarhi Amrit Bharat Express, will arrive at Ghorasahan at 11.10pm and depart two minutes later at 11.12pm towards Sitamarhi. On the return journey, the train will leave Sitamarhi for New Delhi at 8.47am. Railway officials have indicated that if passenger numbers increase, the stoppage may be made a regular feature.
The move is part of broader efforts to strengthen rail connectivity across Bihar. With the Amrit Bharat Express now stopping at Ghorasahan, residents of East Champaran — including local traders and daily commuters — are expected to find it easier to travel to Delhi and other major cities, supporting both mobility and regional economic activity.
