Patna: The Managing Director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL), Rahul Kumar, carried out an inspection of the 33/11 kV power substation at the MESA office complex in Darbhanga on Wednesday, underlining the state utility’s focus on safety and operational discipline.

Rahul Kumar, who also heads the Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL), reviewed the availability and condition of safety equipment at the facility. Officials said he issued clear instructions that all operations at the substation must strictly follow prescribed safety norms, with particular emphasis on preparedness for emergencies.
During the visit, the Managing Director checked the validity of firefighting equipment and directed that all personnel working in shifts at the substation be trained in its proper use. The move is aimed at reducing risks in high-voltage installations, which are critical to electricity supply in the region.

He also assessed the technical condition of the substation, including the load status of power transformers, oil levels, earthing systems and the condition of silica gel units. He instructed engineers and staff to ensure strict compliance with standard operating procedures in the maintenance of substations, grid facilities and transmission lines, and to keep all operational registers updated.
In addition, the NBPDCL chief inspected a newly constructed training centre of the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited. During the inspection, he asked the contractor to expedite the provision of remaining furniture and laboratory equipment so that the facility can become fully operational at the earliest.
