Samastipur: Samastipur district witnessed a historic day when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced, inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 188 development projects worth a total of Rs 827 crore. The announcements were made during his Samriddhi Yatra, where he also reviewed ongoing development works and asked officials to complete all projects quickly and with full transparency. The chief minister said these projects would bring long-term benefits to the people and strengthen the district’s economy, education and infrastructure.
The visit began at the Government Engineering College in Sarairanjan, where the chief minister inspected the new facilities on campus. He visited smart classrooms, project labs, network labs and language laboratories. He also inaugurated the new amenities building, which includes a cafeteria and gym. While speaking with students and teachers, he encouraged them to focus on learning modern skills and new technologies. A student welcomed him in foreign languages, showing how education in the district is moving towards global standards. The chief minister praised the efforts of the teachers and said education is the key to a better future.
Through a remote control ceremony, the chief minister launched 71 new projects worth Rs 470 crore, inaugurated 74 completed projects worth Rs 273 crore and started 43 more projects worth Rs 84 crore. He also visited stalls set up by local startups, government departments and women’s self-help groups known as Jeevika Didis. The women shared how small financial support helped them start businesses and support their families. The chief minister appreciated their work and gave a symbolic cheque of Rs 437 crore to more than 23,000 self-help groups. He also handed over cheques to beneficiaries of social welfare schemes, including old-age pensions and marriage incentive grants.
Later, the chief minister reviewed major road and bridge projects across the district. He inspected the under-construction RCC bridge-cum-bypass road at Hakimabad and was briefed on the progress of national highways, bypass roads, river desilting works and new bridges. He was also informed about plans to develop Muktapur-Moin as a tourist spot and to improve farming through modern agricultural techniques. The chief minister told officials that these projects must be completed on time so that people can enjoy better roads, better jobs and better services.
Senior ministers, top officials and local representatives were present during the visit. The large number of projects and the wide range of sectors involved show the government’s strong focus on Samastipur’s growth. For the people of the district, this day brought new hope that development will reach every village and every family.
