Patna: The minister of education has underlined artificial intelligence, startup culture and bilingual training as critical drivers of Bihar’s future growth, calling for schools to embrace innovation and entrepreneurship to prepare students for a rapidly changing economy.
The remarks came during the inauguration of a three-day Regional Mentoring Session (RMS) on Innovation for teachers and students of PM SHRI Schools, hosted by the Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) from January 28 to 30 at its Mithapur campus. The event forms part of the nationwide School Innovation Contest aimed at nurturing creative thinking at the school level.
Organised in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), the Department of School Education and Literacy, the PM SHRI Schools of Innovation Council and the Wadhwani Foundation, the programme brought together educators and students from across the region. Participants engaged in workshops focused on design thinking, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills to help translate ideas into practical solutions.
Designated as the nodal centre for the initiative, CIMP served as a hub for mentoring sessions, interactive discussions and hands-on activities designed to strengthen innovation capacity. Faculty members and experts guided students on how emerging technologies such as AI can be integrated into everyday learning while encouraging the use of both Hindi and English to widen accessibility.
The programme opened with a ceremonial lamp lighting attended by dignitaries, including Prof (Dr) Rana Singh, director of CIMP, who emphasised the role of institutions in supporting young innovators. Officials said such initiatives aim to create a culture of experimentation in schools and equip students with the confidence to pursue startups and technology-led careers, positioning Bihar as a growing centre for educational and economic transformation.
