Patna: The Department of Commerce at Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, organised a workshop on taxation and Income Tax Return (ITR) e-filing on February 14, aimed at promoting gender inclusion and equity under the Pradhan Mantri Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA). The event took place at the MVEIC Hall, Science Block, beginning at 10 a.m., and was attended by students from the B.Com (Hons.) Accounting & Finance and B.Com (Hons.) Commerce Professional programmes.
The workshop opened with a welcome address by Dr. Soofia Fatima, Dean and Head of the Department of Commerce. It was conducted in two sessions led by distinguished Chartered Accountants.
In the first session, CA Ritesh Anand addressed taxation in the digital era, highlighting faceless assessments, AI-based surveillance, and the evolving framework of digital tax compliance in India. He also demonstrated the Income Tax e-filing portal and discussed how artificial intelligence tools, including ChatGPT, can support academic learning and resolve tax-related queries.

The second session, led by CA Rajeev Kumar and CA Ravi Shankar Dubey, focused on contemporary taxation practices, data analytics, and risk-based assessment systems. They explained recent updates in tax regulations, differences between past and current tax assessment models, common errors in ITR filing, and emerging career opportunities in taxation and audit. Both sessions encouraged interactive discussions, allowing students to clarify doubts regarding tax planning, deductions, exemptions, compliance procedures, and digital filing.
Students from Xavier’s University also participated, enriching the academic diversity of the programme. Overall, the workshop aimed to strengthen students’ practical understanding of modern taxation and digital compliance processes.
