New Delhi: Bihar’s technology push took centre stage at the India AI Impact Summit and Expo 2026, which opened on Monday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, as state innovators engaged with some of the world’s leading artificial intelligence companies.
During the five-day summit, the Bihar government is set to sign memorandums of understanding with several major global technology firms as well as IIT Patna, signalling its ambition to position the state as a growing AI and semiconductor hub.
More than 100 tech company CEOs and representatives from over 135 countries are participating in the summit. Heads of state from more than 20 countries and ministers from over 50 nations are also in attendance, underscoring the scale of the event.
The state’s participation comes shortly after the approval of the Bihar Global Capability Centre (GCC) Policy, 2026 and the Bihar Semiconductor Policy 2026, moves officials say are designed to give Bihar a global identity as a technology hub in eastern India.
As part of its broader strategy, the government has announced a Mega AI Centre of Engineering under the Bihar AI Mission, initiated MoUs with industry and academic partners, signed letters of intent with leading investors, and unveiled policies including the GCC and semiconductor frameworks. Plans for a research park at IIT Patna have also been outlined.

Shreyasi Singh, Bihar’s information technology minister, thanked the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the India AI Mission and the Digital India ecosystem for providing the state with a national platform. “This expo is not just about showcasing innovations but about paving new paths for India’s future,” she said. “Bihar is here not as a spectator, but as a state ready to lead.”
Abhay Kumar Singh, secretary of the state’s IT department, said that as India emerged as a global agenda-setter in AI, Bihar was also moving swiftly to establish itself as a regional tech hub. He added that the state’s new policy framework was expected to attract interest from technology firms worldwide.
The Bihar Pavilion, located at stalls 8 and 12 in Hall 5-F of Bharat Mandapam, will be inaugurated on Tuesday by deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary. Union ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Giriraj Singh are scheduled to attend, along with MPs and other dignitaries from the state.
Officials said the summit offered startups and innovators from Bihar a rare opportunity for global exposure, investor engagement and collaboration in the fast-evolving AI ecosystem.
