Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation has issued a strong warning to officials and contractors after reviewing the progress of water supply projects under the state plan, stating that no negligence or delay will be tolerated. The review meeting, held on February 17, 2026, was chaired by Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena and attended by engineers and contractors involved in the schemes.
During the meeting, the commissioner directed that projects for which a Letter of Acceptance has already been issued must complete contractual formalities immediately and begin work without delay. Officials were instructed to follow a clear action plan and ensure that all works are completed within the fixed timeline. The focus, according to civic officials, is on speeding up on-ground execution while maintaining project standards.

The civic administration also ordered engineers to submit updated progress reports regularly to headquarters to enable closer monitoring. Contractors who have not yet signed agreements were given a three-day deadline to complete paperwork and start work. Officials said that transparency, accountability and quality would remain the guiding principles for implementation.
The review found progress on several projects to be unsatisfactory, prompting the corporation to seek explanations from 13 contractors and concerned engineers working in Wards 21, 16, 27, 36, 18, 42 and 24. The move signals stricter oversight as the civic body pushes to improve water infrastructure and service delivery in Patna.
