Patna: Temperatures are climbing steadily across Bihar, with warm afternoons increasingly overshadowing the mild chill still felt in the early mornings and evenings.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said there would be no significant change in weather conditions across the state on Saturday, though minor fluctuations in temperature were possible. No warnings for cold conditions or rainfall have been issued.
Over the past 24 hours, Purnia recorded the most noticeable change in temperature, while Patna saw relatively stable conditions. Minimum temperatures stood at 19.1C in Purnia, 17.6C in Gaya and 18.7C in Patna. Several districts reported minimum temperatures above seasonal norms.
Patna recorded its highest minimum temperature for February in the past 15 years, according to officials. Across the state, minimum temperatures ranged between 13.5C and 21.2C, with many areas registering a rise of one to three degrees Celsius.
Daytime temperatures have also been edging upwards. Purnia, Patna, Gaya, Valmikinagar and Forbesganj recorded maximum temperatures between 29C and 31C. Some districts saw a marginal drop of one to two degrees, but the overall trend points towards gradual warming.
Meteorologists said eastern districts were witnessing a faster rise in heat levels, while central Bihar was experiencing a slower transition. The Seemanchal region is likely to feel the most intense heat first, officials said.
With temperatures already nearing 31C in February, forecasters suggested that conditions typically associated with late spring or early summer could be felt as early as March this year. Residents have been advised to remain alert to changing weather patterns as the state moves towards the hotter months.
