Patna: Bihar has moved closer to securing a major industrial investment after a proposal to establish a state-of-the-art steel manufacturing plant worth Rs 6,000 crore was submitted to the state government. The project is seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen the industrial ecosystem and position the eastern state as an emerging manufacturing destination.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between managing director Deepak Agarwal, representing steel brand Ek Steel along with Super Shakti and Avadh Steel, and Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, the state’s industries minister. Agarwal presented plans for a technologically advanced steel facility designed to incorporate modern production infrastructure and improve regional steel output.
Jaiswal highlighted Bihar’s progressive industrial policy, expanding infrastructure and investor-friendly environment, assuring the company of full government support. Officials said the proposed project could significantly strengthen the state’s industrial landscape, generate employment opportunities and stimulate local economic growth through ancillary industries and supply chains.
The minister also addressed agricultural concerns, stating that maize farmers’ interests would be protected and prices would not be allowed to fall. He further confirmed that ethanol production units operating across the state would continue functioning without disruption. Bihar currently operates 11 dedicated ethanol plants with an annual production capacity of about 460 million litres, with the government committing to ensure full procurement of output to benefit both farmers and industry stakeholders.
