Purnia: Purnia has been placed on high alert as Home Minister Amit Shah begins a three-day visit to Bihar’s Seemanchal region, which includes Araria, Kishanganj, and Purnia. Police and security forces have been deployed extensively, and every part of the district is under surveillance. The visit is considered politically and strategically important, as Purnia is a stronghold of local politician Pappu Yadav.
Amit Shah’s tour is scheduled from February 25 to 27. He will land at the military airport in Chunapur, Purnia, around noon on the first day and travel to Kishanganj by army helicopter. During the day, he will meet with district officials, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and the Border Security Force (BSF) to discuss border and security issues. He will stay overnight at MGM Medical College to remain close to key operational centres.
On the second day, Shah will visit the Letti border outpost in Araria and meet district magistrates and police superintendents from seven border districts. He will review plans to strengthen infrastructure in border villages under the “Vibrant Villages Program” and discuss measures to prevent migration from the region. Health teams and emergency response units have also been deployed to handle any situation.
On the final day, the Home Minister will return to Purnia for a high-level meeting on India-Nepal border issues before departing for Delhi at 4 pm. Authorities have confirmed that all security and emergency arrangements are in place. The visit highlights the government’s focus on border management and regional development in the sensitive Seemanchal area.
