Commissioner Kumar Ravi Urges for Uninterrupted Medicine Supply and Improved Health Services at PMCH

Patna: The Patna Divisional Commissioner, Kumar Ravi, chaired a meeting of the Patient Welfare Committee (Rogi Kalyan Samiti) at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) on Thursday to review healthcare services and infrastructure. From January 1 to June 30, PMCH saw 2,56,161 patients in OPD and conducted 1,80,075 pathology tests.

Kumar Ravi emphasized the importance of providing robust, reliable, and quality health services, directing the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL) to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential medicines. He urged all stakeholders to remain alert, prompt, and committed to the welfare of patients, with special efforts to deliver the best health services to the needy.

The Commissioner highlighted the necessity for transparency, accountability, and financial discipline in hospital management. He noted that public health services are crucial for remote and deprived communities and stressed the priority of treating needy patients.

During the meeting, various points were discussed, including the availability of medicines, ambulance services, and other facilities like emergency, pathology, MRI, and USG. The Superintendent of PMCH reported compliance with previous directives, highlighting improvements in cleanliness, dietary provisions, and quality health services. Daily maintenance of toilets and bathrooms is managed by Sulabh International Social Service Organization, while “Didi Ki Rasoi” run by Jeevika provides quality food.

The Superintendent reported excellent facilities for tests such as X-ray, blood, echo, ECG, MRI, and more. Between January and June 2024, PMCH provided IPD facilities to 36,348 patients, conducted 6,290 major and 16,397 minor operations, and treated 39,551 emergency patients. Essential medicines, clean drinking water, and toilet facilities are available in every ward.

Kumar Ravi directed the Deputy General Manager of BMSICL to ensure the continuous supply of medicines and the Patna Municipal Corporation to maintain hospital cleanliness. He also addressed traffic management issues near the hospital, instructing the Superintendent of Police, Traffic to ensure smooth traffic flow.

The meeting was attended by key officials including the District Magistrate, Patna, Regional Additional Director Health Services, Civil Surgeon, Superintendent of PMCH, and other committee members, who discussed proposals and reports for the welfare of patients.
