Patna: The application process for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 will begin on August 3, according to the schedule announced by the Consortium of National Law Universities. Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes at 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) can submit their applications online until October 31.
The entrance examination is scheduled to be held in offline mode on December 6.
Admission to 22 National Law Universities
CLAT is the common entrance examination for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by the country’s National Law Universities. Each year, lakhs of candidates appear for the examination to compete for a limited number of seats.
According to the Consortium, CLAT 2027 will facilitate admissions to around 5,500 seats across participating institutions. Of these, nearly 4,000 seats are available for undergraduate programmes, while around 1,500 seats are allocated for postgraduate courses.
Bihar Sees Strong Participation
Bihar continues to record significant participation in the national law entrance examination. Every year, around 5,000 to 6,000 students from the state appear for CLAT, reflecting growing interest in legal education.
A large number of aspirants are also expected to apply this year, with many students having already begun preparations ahead of the application window.
CNLU Patna Remains a Preferred Choice
Among the participating institutions, Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, remains a preferred destination for law aspirants from Bihar.
The university offers 138 undergraduate seats across its BA LLB and BBA LLB programmes, while its LLM programme has 66 seats.
Important Dates for Candidates
Candidates can begin submitting online applications from August 3, while the last date to apply is October 31. The examination will be conducted on December 6.
The Consortium has advised candidates to read the official notification carefully before filling out the application form and to complete the process within the prescribed deadline. Aspirants are also encouraged to continue their preparation well in advance of the examination.
