Patna: Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari met senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders shortly after joining the party, signalling what party sources describe as a potential organisational role ahead of Bihar’s upcoming electoral contests.
Following his induction into the BJP, Tiwari met senior BJP leader Nitin Nabin and later held discussions with Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. According to party sources, the meetings focused on organisational priorities and the party’s political strategy in the state.
Discussions on Organisational Strategy
Sources said Nitin Nabin congratulated Tiwari on joining the BJP and discussed the party’s future plans in Bihar. The discussions reportedly covered organisational strengthening and preparations for upcoming political campaigns.
The BJP is expected to utilise Tiwari’s experience in media management and political communication, areas in which he served as one of the RJD’s prominent public faces.
Meeting With Samrat Choudhary
Tiwari also met Samrat Choudhary, who welcomed him into the party and discussed possible future responsibilities.
According to sources, Choudhary asked Tiwari to campaign for the BJP candidate in the Bankipur Assembly by-election. Party insiders also indicated that Tiwari could be assigned a significant organisational responsibility in the near future, although no official announcement has been made.
Resignation From the RJD
Tiwari joined the BJP shortly after resigning from the RJD, where he had served as the party’s national spokesperson and media in-charge.
While announcing his resignation, Tiwari alleged that he had faced neglect and humiliation within the party despite serving it for several years. He said Lalu Prasad Yadav had entrusted him with key responsibilities during a challenging period for the RJD in 2014 and that he had worked to communicate the party’s ideology and defend its position during organisational crises.
He further claimed that he had experienced continuous neglect over the past seven to eight months, prompting his decision to leave the party.

Political observers say Tiwari’s induction could strengthen the BJP’s communication strategy and organisational outreach in Bihar.
