Patna: Samrat Choudhary has announced that an e-tender has been issued for the development of Valmikinagar Airport, marking a significant step toward improving regional air connectivity in northern parts of the state. The project aims to upgrade the existing airport so that it can support the operation of Code-2B category aircraft.
According to Choudhary, the project will be implemented by the Airports Authority of India under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode. The estimated cost of the development is Rs 38.64 crore, and the construction work is expected to be completed within 11 months.
The planned upgrade will include the construction of a pre-fabricated steel structure terminal building, a pre-engineered Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, and a pre-engineered fire station, along with other supporting infrastructure. The aim is to equip the airport with modern facilities and make it capable of handling increased aviation activity in the region.
Choudhary also noted that a Rs 43.13 crore tender has recently been issued for the runway construction at the under-construction airport in Muzaffarpur. Both projects are part of the state’s broader push to strengthen regional aviation infrastructure.
The development of Valmikinagar Airport is expected to improve air connectivity for several districts, including Bettiah, Motihari and Gopalganj, as well as nearby border regions. Officials say better connectivity could also help boost tourism, trade and local economic activity across North Bihar
