Patna: Pressure on the supply of domestic LPG cylinders in Patna has intensified, with thousands of bookings pending across several gas agencies and some consumers facing delays of up to 10 days, according to a backlog report dated March 8.
Data from multiple agencies in and around the city shows a significant accumulation of pending refill requests. The highest backlog has been reported at Shaheed Ganesh Indane Agency, where 3,837 cylinder bookings remain pending. Of these, 1,403 bookings are between five and 10 days old, while 477 customers have been waiting for between 10 and 20 days.
Other agencies are also experiencing substantial delays. Akhand Jyoti Indane has around 2,297 pending cylinders, followed by Punit Nayan Enterprises with 2,070, Yogi Indane Seva with 1,980 and Magadh Enterprises with 1,646 pending bookings. Several additional agencies across the city have reported backlogs approaching 1,000 cylinders.
The situation extends beyond Patna’s main agencies. Around 1,700 deliveries are pending at Jehanabad Gas Service, 1,315 at Sai Sneh Indane, 1,212 at Indra Prabha Enterprises, and 1,216 at Prasad Indane Service, the report indicates.
Aging backlogs are also raising concern. At Magadh Enterprises, 674 bookings are between five and 10 days old, while 355 bookings at United Enterprises and 338 at Safeway Gas Agency fall into the same category.
Consumers say the waiting time for cylinder delivery after booking has increased in recent days. Agency operators, however, attribute the delays to temporary gaps between supply and demand, saying efforts are under way to clear the backlog.
Industry observers warn that unless supply and distribution are better balanced, waiting times for LPG cylinders could increase further in the coming days.
