Patna: The 22nd installment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) will be credited to the bank accounts of more than 73 lakh farmers in Bihar on March 13, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to release the funds from Guwahati.
According to Bihar’s agriculture minister Ram Kripal Yadav, the payment will be transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer mechanism. In Bihar alone, about 7.334 million eligible farmers will receive Rs 2,000 each as part of the installment.
Yadav said that more than Rs 1,467 crore will be credited directly to the accounts of farmers across the state. The funds will be transferred online through the DBT system as part of the central government’s ongoing support to farmers under the scheme.
Describing the programme as a major initiative to strengthen agriculture and boost farmers’ incomes, the minister said the scheme provides Rs 6,000 annually to eligible farming families in three equal installments. The amount is deposited directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
“The Bihar government is continuously working to ensure that farmers receive maximum benefits under the scheme. Efforts are being made to expand farmer registrations, complete Aadhaar verification and link bank accounts with NPCI so that the assistance reaches farmers without delay,” Yadav said.
He also urged farmers who have not yet enrolled in the scheme to complete their registration and necessary documentation to become eligible for the benefits.
The previous installment under the scheme was released in November 2025, when around 7.3 million farmers in Bihar received the 21st installment. At that time too, approximately Rs 1,467 crore was transferred to beneficiaries through DBT.
The upcoming installment comes amid recent controversy over farmer registrations in the state, which had triggered political and administrative debate over beneficiary verification.
