Patna: Political tensions in Bihar escalated on Saturday as the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) launched a pointed attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s nomination for the Rajya Sabha.
Outside the RJD’s Patna office, party leaders displayed a poster depicting a large python and a chair symbolising the Chief Minister’s seat. An arrow pointed from the chair toward the Rajya Sabha, with the bold caption: “There is no ally—however close—whom the BJP has not deceived.” The imagery served as a symbolic critique of the BJP’s approach to its political alliances.
RJD state spokesperson Ejaz Ahmad described the poster as a commentary on the BJP’s modus operandi, accusing the party of using allies purely for political gain before abandoning them. “The BJP’s politics are driven solely by the arithmetic of power, with little regard for public interest,” Ahmad said.
The poster comes amid heightened political activity following Nitish Kumar’s formal filing of his nomination papers. Opposition parties have voiced concern over the move, framing it as a calculated political strategy. The display in Patna has sparked renewed debate over Bihar’s political dynamics, highlighting the growing acrimony between the state’s major parties.
