Patna: The price of premium petrol, commonly known as ‘Speed’ petrol, has increased by Rs 2 per litre in Bihar, reflecting ongoing global volatility in oil markets due to tensions in the Middle East.
As of Friday morning, Speed petrol in Patna is priced at Rs 114.14 per litre, up from Rs 112.14 the previous day. Similar hikes were reported across the state: Buxar (Rs 115.62), Jamui (Rs 115.90), Supaul (Rs 115.22), Purnia (Rs 115.62), Katihar (Rs 115.61), Munger (Rs 115.04), and Lakhisarai (Rs 114.94).
While the increase affects high-performance and premium vehicles directly, analysts warn that it may indirectly influence the cost of goods and transport services, impacting everyday consumers.
In contrast, prices for regular petrol and diesel have remained largely stable, with marginal decreases in some districts, offering slight relief to the wider population.
Officials attributed the premium petrol hike to international oil market fluctuations rather than domestic supply issues, emphasising that regular fuel supplies continue uninterrupted.
