Patna: Patna’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has arrested a key suspect in connection with the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-3) paper leak, marking a significant development in a sprawling investigation that has already implicated nearly 300 individuals.
Praveen Kumar Sinha, also known as ‘Dablu Mukhiya, was taken into custody following a raid in the Karbigahiya area of Patna. He is reported to be a close associate of Sanjeev Mukhiya, alleged ringleader of the network accused of orchestrating the leak. Hailing from Konipar village in Lakhisarai district, Sinha had long-standing ties to the gang, according to police sources.
Investigators allege that Sinha played a central role in leaking question papers for multiple competitive examinations over the past decade. In the latest case, he reportedly transported around 30 candidates to a hotel in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, where they were instructed to memorise the exam questions. Sinha had fled the hotel just one day before the examination, returning to Lakhisarai and remaining in hiding until apprehended on the basis of a confidential tip-off.
So far, charge sheets have been filed against 293 individuals connected to the case, while the search for remaining members of the gang continues. The EOU has indicated that information obtained during Sinha’s interrogation is being used to trace other associates.
The episode has sparked renewed concerns over the transparency and integrity of competitive examinations in Bihar, highlighting vulnerabilities in the recruitment process that have long troubled candidates and authorities alike.
