Patna: The Nalanda Medical College is set to celebrate its 57th foundation day along with Alumni Meet 2026 on April 2, with a series of events planned to honour its legacy and reconnect generations of doctors.
According to Alumni Society president Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, the celebrations will begin at 8 am on the college premises in Patna. Alumni from across India and abroad are expected to attend, bringing a sense of nostalgia and shared identity to the campus.
Officials said more than 500 alumni are likely to participate in the event.
A key highlight of the ceremony will be the felicitation of doctors from the 1976 batch, marking 50 years since their admission to the MBBS programme. Organisers described the moment as a symbol of the institution’s enduring tradition and pride.
Former senior faculty members, whose contributions helped shape the college, will also be honoured during the ceremony . An alumni souvenir documenting the institution’s history and achievements is set to be released.
The organising committee, including secretary Dr Sunil Kumar and executive member Dr Ajay Kumar, said preparations had been made to ensure a memorable gathering.
Organising secretary Dr Puneet Kumar said a cultural evening will be held at the Urja Auditorium from 7 pm, featuring performances including a singing programme by Ritika Raj, followed by a gala dinner.
Senior vice-president of the organising committee Dr Manish Shankar and visiting alumnus Dr Ashish Kumar said the event would strengthen alumni ties and celebrate the institution’s heritage.
The organisers also expressed gratitude to principal Dr Usha Kumari and superintendent Dr Rashmi Prasad for their support. A dedicated room for the Alumni Society has also been allotted in the administrative building, which officials said would enhance future alumni activities.
The event is expected to serve not only as a celebration but also as a platform connecting past and present members of the institution through shared memories and professional bonds.
