Patna: Patna University has announced that the admission process for undergraduate (UG) courses for the 2026–30 academic session will begin from May 1.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Academic Calendar Committee chaired by Vice Chancellor Ajay Kumar Singh. Officials confirmed that the application process will be conducted online through the Samarth Portal, with fee payments also being made digitally.
University officials said admissions to both general and vocational UG courses will now be based on an entrance examination, marking a return to the earlier system after several years. The entrance-based process had been discontinued in 2019 and replaced with merit-based admissions during the pandemic period.
According to Dean of Student Welfare Kameshwar Pandit, the complete admission process is expected to be wrapped up by the last week of June, with classes for the new academic session scheduled to begin in the first week of July.
The university will continue with its four-year undergraduate programme under the semester system. Officials also assured that the academic calendar will be followed strictly, with timely commencement of classes and examinations.
The meeting was attended by principals and heads of departments from various colleges affiliated with the university, who discussed streamlining the admission schedule and resolving pending calendar issues.
Admissions will be available across key faculties including science, arts and commerce in colleges such as Magadh Mahila College, B.N. College, Patna College and Science College.
