Patna: Dry weather conditions continue to prevail across Bihar due to westerly winds, with temperatures rising steadily as pre-monsoon activity weakens, according to the Meteorological Centre in Patna.
The weather office has forecast no significant change over the next three to four days. During this period, temperatures are likely to increase by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, with heatwave conditions expected in several districts.
Officials said that reduced moisture in the atmosphere is making the heat more intense and uncomfortable. Wind speeds are likely to remain between 30 and 40 kmph. However, a western disturbance is expected to become active over the Himalayan region between April 15 and 16, which may bring partial cloud cover and a slight drop in temperatures.
On Sunday, wind speeds reached up to 43 kmph in Patna and Arwal, while maximum temperatures rose across most districts. Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 37.2°C, marking an increase of 1.3 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours. Dehri reported the highest temperature in the state at 39.4°C.
Other major cities also recorded rising temperatures. Gaya was the hottest during the day at 38.4°C, while Patna experienced the warmest night with a minimum temperature of 23.6°C. Bhagalpur recorded a maximum of 35.3°C and a minimum of 20.1°C, while Muzaffarpur registered 33.0°C and 20.6°C respectively.
The weather department said that dry conditions, coupled with gusty winds, are likely to persist in the coming days, intensifying heat levels across the state.
