Patna: The Bihar government has updated its official website to reflect the state’s recent political transition, replacing the photograph of former chief minister Nitish Kumar with that of his successor, Samrat Choudhary, and introducing a new slogan: “Rising Bihar, Changing Bihar” (Badhta Bihar, Badalta Bihar).
The changes to the homepage, which functions as the state’s primary digital platform for communicating policies, schemes and official decisions, signal both continuity in governance and a shift in leadership style. Officials indicated that the update process began shortly after Choudhary assumed office, with the aim of aligning the government’s public-facing identity with its revised priorities and vision.
Such updates are typically seen as more than symbolic, offering insight into how a new administration intends to present itself and engage with the public.
On his first day in office, Choudhary outlined the approach of the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, stating it would operate on what he described as the “Narendra Modi and Nitish” model, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside his predecessor.
Following his swearing-in at Lok Bhawan, the chief minister took charge at the state secretariat and held an initial meeting with officials. During the discussion, he emphasised priorities including law and order, the implementation of development schemes and administrative efficiency.
Choudhary called for faster resolution of public grievances and warned against bureaucratic delays, urging officials to avoid unnecessary file movement and instead focus on timely outcomes. He also reiterated a “zero-tolerance” stance on corruption, stating that malpractice would not be accepted at any level of government.
While existing welfare and development programmes will continue, the chief minister stressed that their effective and timely execution would be central to the administration’s agenda.
