Patna: People travelling by Patna Metro on April 27 will need to make alternate travel plans, as metro services will not operate for the entire day. The Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited has announced that services are being suspended because the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) will carry out an official inspection at Bhoothnath Metro Station on the DN Line. This inspection is an important process to ensure that the metro system is safe and ready for public use.
Officials have said that metro services will resume from 28 April. Trains will start operating again from Patliputra Bus Terminal Metro Station. The temporary closure may cause inconvenience for daily passengers, office-goers and students who have started depending on the metro for faster travel across the city. People have been advised to use buses, auto-rickshaws or other transport options during the shutdown.
Meanwhile, construction work on the Patna Metro project is moving quickly. The city’s first underground tunnel is currently being built on Corridor-2, also known as the Red Line. This tunnel is being constructed between Moin-ul-Haq Stadium and Rajendra Nagar Station. Reports say that the first tunnel is likely to be completed by May, while the second tunnel may be ready by June. This marks a major step in the development of modern public transport in Patna.
According to reports, the first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) has already crossed the railway tracks near Rajendra Nagar. It now needs to dig around 150 more metres to reach Rajendra Nagar Station. The second TBM has not crossed the railway tracks yet and is expected to dig around 350 metres. Once both machines complete their work, the tunnel connecting Rajendra Nagar Station and Malahi Pakri will be fully ready.
Corridor-2 of the Patna Metro will have a total of 12 stations. Out of these, seven stations will be underground, while five stations are part of the Priority Corridor. This metro line will connect the eastern and western areas of Patna, making travel easier and faster for thousands of people every day.
The new metro route is expected to reduce traffic problems in busy areas such as Ashok Rajpath and Rajendra Nagar. Once fully operational, Patna Metro is likely to bring major relief to commuters and change the way people travel in the city.
