Motihari/Patna: Under an ongoing campaign against illegal activities along the Indo-Nepal international border, Motihari Police and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering a large amount of Indian and the Nepali currency during a joint raid.
The operation was carried out on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat, who has ordered intensified action against illegal currency rackets operating in the border region.
Secret Tip-Off Leads to Swift Action
According to police sources, Jitna Police Station SHO Sudhir Kumar received confidential information that two individuals were entering India from Nepal through the Jiyalal Check Post in Agrawa village with illegal currency.
Acting immediately, teams from the SSB and Jitna Police jointly cordoned off the checkpoint and launched a search operation.
Two Suspects Apprehended, Cash Recovered
During the raid, both suspects were intercepted while crossing from Nepal into India.
From the bag of the first suspect, Naresh Kumar Gupta, son of Gajendra Gupta, resident of Shikarganj, East Champaran district, police recovered:
- NPR 963,650 (Nepali Currency)
- INR 71,410 (Indian Currency)
From the second suspect, Jailal Ram, son of Ramdev Ram, resident of Galonpati, Kalaiya police station area, Bara district, Nepal, officials recovered:
- NPR 110,000 (Nepali Currency)
Investigation Underway Into Possible Larger Racket
Police have seized the recovered cash and taken both men into custody for detailed interrogation. Investigators are now trying to determine whether the seized money is linked to a larger illegal currency smuggling network operating across the border.
Officials stated that the campaign against unlawful activities on the Indo-Nepal border will continue, and strict action will be taken in similar cases
