Patna: The self-enumeration phase of the upcoming census has concluded in Patna, with authorities set to begin the next stage—house listing and housing enumeration—from Saturday.
Sub-census officer Vidur Bharti said that 222,548 households in the district had completed self-enumeration during the drive.
Patna Ranks Fourth
Despite being the state capital and having the largest urban population, Patna ranked fourth in Bihar in terms of participation, trailing districts such as Vaishali and Muzaffarpur.
Officials said awareness campaigns were conducted to encourage participation, though the district fell short of expectations.
Door-To-Door Survey Begins
From Saturday, enumerators will begin visiting households to collect detailed data as part of the house listing and housing census phase.
Authorities said training for enumerators and supervisors has been completed, with around 10,000 personnel kept in reserve to ensure timely completion of the exercise by May 31.
Public Cooperation Sought
District officials have urged residents to cooperate with census teams and provide accurate information.
They emphasised that the census is a critical national exercise, with reliable data playing a key role in shaping policies and welfare schemes.
Next Phase Underway
Officials said the transition to door-to-door enumeration marks a crucial step in the census process, aimed at ensuring comprehensive and accurate data collection across urban and rural areas.
