Rajgir/Patna: Bihar governor, Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (retired), visited Nalanda University in Rajgir on Monday, where he was accorded a guard of honour and toured the campus, reviewing its academic programmes and infrastructure.
During his interaction with students and faculty, Hasnain underscored the continued relevance of ancient knowledge systems, noting that their philosophical depth could be aligned with the aspirations of modern learners. He said such integration could strengthen both critical thinking and holistic education.
Addressing the university community, the governor encouraged students to engage more actively in civic and intellectual life beyond the campus. He invited them to participate in upcoming programmes at Bihar Lok Bhavan, describing such platforms as important for fostering broader public dialogue.
Hasnain also expressed appreciation for the university’s net-zero campus model, highlighting its emphasis on sustainability and innovation. He said the institution’s approach could serve as a template for other universities in Bihar, suggesting that similar practices be examined for wider implementation across the state’s higher education system.
Nalanda University, conceived as a revival of the ancient centre of learning, has positioned itself as a global institution with a focus on interdisciplinary studies and environmental sustainability.
