Patna: The Danapur Railway Division has announced a new stoppage for the Howrah–Patna Vande Bharat Express at Jamui station, following repeated demands from passengers. The halt, which will be introduced on a trial basis, comes into effect from May 15.
According to railway officials, Train No. 22347/22348 will stop at Jamui for two minutes in both directions as part of the revised schedule.
Under the new timings, the Howrah–Patna Vande Bharat Express (22347) will arrive at Jamui at 8.05pm and depart at 8.07pm. In the return direction, the Patna–Howrah service (22348) will reach Jamui at 9.49am and leave at 9.51am.
Officials said the decision was taken to improve accessibility for passengers from Jamui and nearby districts. A permanent halt may be considered in the future depending on passenger usage and feedback during the trial period.
The stop is expected to benefit commuters from surrounding areas including Lakhisarai and Sheikhpura, reducing the need to travel to larger junctions to board the semi-high-speed service.
The Vande Bharat Express, known for its faster journey times and modern onboard facilities, has seen growing demand across its operating routes. Railway authorities said the addition of new halts is part of ongoing efforts to balance speed with regional connectivity.
Local response in Jamui has been positive, with residents welcoming the improved access to the premium train service.
