Patna: The Patna district education office has warned teachers and staff of strict action for indiscipline and behaviour that disrupts the academic environment in schools and government offices.
In a letter issued to all teachers and employees, the District Programme Officer (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) said the state government is implementing educational schemes and departmental work in mission mode, requiring a strong work culture and better coordination.
Concerns over conduct and coordination
The letter stated that a lack of coordination and communication had been observed at some levels during the execution of departmental work.
It also referred to instances of “inappropriate behaviour”, unnecessary remarks and attempts to breach office confidentiality.
The office directed all teachers, employees and officials to report to schools and offices on time. It said any form of indiscipline would not be tolerated.
“Discipline is essential to create an academic environment in schools and offices,” the letter said, adding that strict action would be taken against those who fail to follow rules or attempt to disturb the educational atmosphere.
Daily reporting of classes made mandatory
The district education office has also instructed head teachers to submit daily reports on classes being conducted in schools.
Teachers will be required to provide details of the number of classes they conduct each day. They have also been directed to prepare lesson plans in advance and record the next day’s teaching topics in their diaries.
Classes are expected to be conducted according to the pre-decided schedule.
Homework checks and parent engagement
The office said checking students’ homework daily would be mandatory.
If a student repeatedly fails to complete homework, the class teacher will be responsible for identifying the reasons and informing parents.
Teachers have also been asked to remain in regular contact with parents and monitor whether children are studying at home. Parents will be encouraged to provide a supportive environment for learning outside school hours.
